Perform structural and mechanical simulation to support product design, validation, and failure investigation. The engineer will build defensible analysis models, interpret results, and translate findings into practical design recommendations. MechHire is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a client in the medical-device industry. The engineer will support the design, development, modification and verification of mechanical components used in medical devices. The role involves mechanical design, CAD/CAE modelling, prototyping, bench testing, engineering analysis and technical documentation. The engineer will work in a regulated product-development environment and collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management teams. The successful candidate should have strong mechanical-engineering fundamentals, an understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
Responsibilities: Design, develop, modify and verify mechanical components for medical devices. Create and refine mechanical concepts using appropriate CAD or CAE tools. Assist with prototype development, assembly and bench testing. Support design verification activities against defined product requirements. Investigate technical problems and perform structured root-cause analysis. Identify potential engineering solutions and evaluate them against design requirements. Conduct technical research and engineering studies to support product development. Interpret customer needs and translate them into appropriate design inputs. Understand the product’s intended use and associated clinical procedures. Apply relevant industry standards, design requirements and testing strategies. Support product-development activities in alignment with regulatory requirements. Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History File documentation. Follow design-control and risk-management procedures defined by the Quality Management System. Support material selection and manufacturing-process decisions. Read, interpret and review complex engineering drawings. Work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management teams. Follow applicable company procedures, policies, processes, systems and technologies. Take ownership of assigned work and maintain accuracy and integrity in engineering deliverables. Build productive working relationships and contribute effectively as a project team member.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience. Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical-engineering principles and practices. Experience in mechanical product design and development. Working knowledge of CAD or CAE modelling tools. Knowledge of mechanical analysis methods and basic statistical techniques. Understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
